How and Why Reflexology Works

Reflexology is a holistic approach to achieving balance and homeostasis within the physical body, mind and spirit.

When one part of the body is “out of balance”, in due course the rest of the body may also become imbalanced resulting in physical and emotional dysfunctions of varying levels. Reflexology focuses on the hands, feet or face using a combination of massage and pressure on particular reflexes within zones which reflect all aspects of our body and functional systems.

This therapy works by stimulating nerve impulses which in turn aid in opening the channels of nerve communication to improve circulation, respiration, digestion, skeletal and muscular systems, reproductive, urinary and lymphatic systems as well as endocrine and our senses. As a result, muscles relax allowing nutrients and oxygen to be delivered to all body cells and waste substances are more efficiently removed. In particular, reflexology is very beneficial with stress and tension related issues as these can often develop into both physical and emotional imbalances.

This can benefit an individual with enhanced relaxation and the bringing about of homeostasis with lasting effect from ongoing treatments.
